Synopsis

INTEREST. Fijians demonstrate various traditional activities for tourists.

Tourists are carried ashore at M'Benga on the backs of Fijian natives (18). Several men perform the Haka, the traditional war-dance (35). Water is poured over hot rocks; yams are placed on the rocks, covered, and left to steam (122). Children jump from a bridge into a river (171). Fire-making by rubbing a stick in a hole in a piece of wood (206). Natives enjoy a steam bath after piling foliage on hot stones (293). Canoe racing in long canoes (326). Two-man canoes are steered over hurdles (399ft).
