No main title. Travelling shot from front of a tram of street scenes in Calcutta (?) (21). "LE PORT" (24). Indians at work digging near a river (46); native boats in port, larger merchant ships and port buildings in background on other side of river (68); natives disembarking from their boats under the shadow of the stern of a merchant ship (86). "EDEN JARDIN" (91). Pan left of the gardens with Fort William in the background (125). "OISEAUX AQUATIQUES" (129). Flamingoes watched by natives (167). "LE VIEUX PONT" (172). A train passes the camera; the barriers are lifted and the road traffic crosses the tracks; pan left to show railway station building and the entrance to the Howrah Bridge; view along the bridge (226). "RUE ET MARCHE À BOMBAY" (231). Street scenes; market scenes; trading in brassware (320). Two oxen turn a waterwheel (353). Closer view of the waterwheel (363). "CÉRÉMONIES RELIGIEUSES" (367). Men wash their faces in a pool (386). Slaughtering kids (goats) in a street; each kid is held up for the crowd to see; a floral garland is placed around its neck; the kid is then placed in a y-shaped piece of wood and an axe brought down on it, chopping it in two; the two halves are held up for the on-lookers to see. This is repeated a number of times (447). People sprinkle water on the y-shaped wood and take blessings from it (453). "L'ENTRÉE DU TEMPLE" (457). Crowds enter and leave the temple (495ft).
