Synopsis
Mahatma Gandhi's arrival in England for the India Round Table Conference at St James' Palace (second session).
"The Mahatma arrives to attend India Round Table Conference" (1 frame). Gandhi seated on floor, in loin cloth, works a spinning wheel (5). Travelling shot of steamer from stern to midship (18). Indian delegation, mainly women, disembarking from ship down gang plank; different view of disembarking passengers (Gandhi is not seen) (39). View of front of car, it drives off - Gandhi sits in the passenger seat (49). Gandhi emerging from the Friend's Meeting House on Euston Road dressed in homespun cotton cloth (55). "Delegates attend first meeting at St James' Palace" (1 frame). Arrival of unidentified delegate; CU same (64). Indian delegates outside a doorway (92). [Section from another film?] Dignitaries (European and Japanese?) emerge from an entrance to applause of small crowd. To the left of the entrance is a sign which reads `EERSTE KAMER DER STATTEN ???RAAL - a man obscures the middle section. A couple (elderly man and woman) emerge. A bystander (?) moves in front of them. A man from beneath the camera suddenly rushes forward and pushes the bystander out of the way, he returns to below the camera. The bystander moves toward the man who has pushed him: a British policeman takes charge (115ft).
