Synopsis
Deserted city of Fatehpur, shots around and about including white marble tomb of Salim Christi. Sir Malcolm Hailey, the governor of the Punjab, at Chini. Repairing road for the visit. Carving out stone to widen cliff-top road. Celebration at Pangi Temple. On the road to Pu and the bridge at Shiasu over Thanam river. On the border with Tibet with 'the boy Lama'. Spiti river junction. Buddhist stupa (dome-shaped memorial shrine) and wayside shrines and Lama's house. Devil dance in Lippa 1928: Doorkeeper Devils dance to the time of the head Lama. "Describes how the evildoers are slowly chopped with a large cutlass". Masked Buddha and his disciples perform ceremonies. Launching and sweeping timber into the Sutlej and Baspa rivers.
