Synopsis
INSTRUCTIONAL. View of the village belonging to the Mashona tribe. Cattle and goats are herded through the village. Children play. Villagers leave their huts carrying implements for the day's work (38). Ground is cleared of tree roots and the soil is tilled ready for the maize crop (65). At the village stall, a villager buys an ox-head (95). Village craftsmenat work - a basketmaker and a carpenter (129). At the mission school, an outdoor class is held in reading and writing (182). Clay models and utensils made by the children (208). Children dancing (231). After school, the children play games around the village huts (244). The older boys play "tsors" which is similar to draughts (259). A native woman pounds grain and prepares a meal for her family from it (312). Final shots of a tribal dance (352). [16mm].
