Synopsis

Argentinean documentary on the invasion of the Falkland Islands.

Argentine military equipment being prepared for the Falkland Islands. Fleet sets sail with troops bound for the Falklands. Shots of various ships. Landing craft head off for shore containing Argentine troops. Large wooden notice board showing emblem of Royal Marines who formed Naval Party 8901, the detachment which spends twelve months on tour in the South Atlantic. Interiors and exteriors of Moody Brook Barracks. Aircraft lands at Port Stanley - heavy armour, tracked vehicles. Still photographs - montage of propaganda shots showing family of Argentine dead soldier. Shots of Port Stanley, clean, tidy and in good order, and shots of outlying stations. Grytviken, South Georgia - Argentines off-load scrap metal men from Bahia Paraiso. Men at work. Heavy lifting gear. Montage of Argentine newspapers with headlines announcing that the Malvinas is occupied. Build-up of Argentine forces around Port Stanley. British fleet leaves Portsmouth for South Atlantic - shots of Ascension Island, Haig's diplomacy, cheering Argentine crowds waving flags, aerial shots over Falklands. Troops take up position, dig trenches, fire machine guns. More shots of South Georgia. Maps showing British fleet's progress. Rough seas, submarines, South Georgia; Argentine submarine Santa Fe holed and sunk in Grytviken harbour. British troops in South Georgia. Bombardment of Port Stanley - smoke, flames, people rushing around. A4s land on aircraft carrier Veinticinco de Mayo. Ops room of General Belgrano - stills of sinking, showing life rafts containing survivors. Belgrano topples and sinks. Survivors in life vests captured. Super Etendard aircraft set off armed with Exocet missiles - British fleet attacked. Mangled ship after bombing. Argentine hospital ship Bahia Paraiso. Casualties treated on ship; medical helicopter takes off. 4.5-inch gun fires, Harriers in action. Bombardment of Port Stanley airport - buildings on fire, people run around, smoke billows. Pucara aircraft close-ups. British Marines board landing craft for invasion - aircraft attack British fleet and are shot down by Rapier missiles. HMS Ardent on fire. Battle for Falkland Sound with British ships badly damaged, smoke billowing from HMS Ardent, explosion of HMS Antelope, Atlantic Conveyor before and after being struck by Exocet missile. British troops board helicopters. RFA Sir Galahad attacked - wounded come ashore. Exocet missile before firing at HMS Glamorgan. Port Stanley ablaze as the final battle for the town reaches its conclusion and anti-aircraft guns move along main highway.
