HMS OCEAN LEAVES MALTA FOR KOREA

Synopsis

I. MS as HMS Ocean passes right to left, steaming through the breakwater to leave Grand Harbour - the crew line the side for leaving port and Fireflies and Sea Furies are ranged aft. A Westland Dragonfly hovers over the ship in some shots. The carrier is accompanied initially by a launch and a Rollicker Class tug, and once outside the harbour she is met by the escorting destroyer HMS St Kitts (D.18).

II. HA from outer harbour wall as the Italian cruiser Giuseppe Garibaldi enters, followed by the anti-submarine escort Sirio (F.554). The cruiser and Malta garrison exchange salutes.

HMS Ocean leaves for Korean waters in company with the destroyer HMS St Kitts. C-in-C Italian Naval Forces, Ammiraglio Di Squadra Manfredi, visits Malta in the cruiser Giuseppe Garibaldi.
