HMS Bulwark sails from Grand Harbour at 0900 on Monday 10 December, 1956, to the accompaniment of bands and cheering parties from the other ships. The camera is on HMS Eagle

LS off the starboard bow of HMS Bulwark as she steams down Grand Harbour towards the cameraship, HMS Eagle. Bulwark passes left to right, her crew manning ship and the Sea Hawks of 804 Squadron arrayed on deck. Captain Villiers looks on. The Eagle's men line the side to watch the departing carrier and cheer her as she passes, some of them running forward to keep Bulwark in sight as she passes the outer breakwater. A rather dull and overcast day.

Notes

Summary: there is currently no record film come to light showing HMS Bulwark - or HMS Albion - operating off Port Said. However, some film does seem to have been taken, for fragments appear in the edited film 'Suez in Perspective', COI 340. In Reel One there is an aerial view of Bulwark, the camera-aircraft closing from the port quarter to cross the stern and fly down the starboard side - the deck is crowded with Sea Hawks, a Dragonfly and an AEW Skyraider. There is also a brief HA shot showing Albion launching a Sea Hawk from the port catapult while a second is positioned on the starboard cat. In both sequences the Sea Hawks are painted in the identifying stripes for the Suez operation
