Synopsis

HMS Eagle at sea, flying off Sea Hawks and Sea Venoms, and at Malta as HMS Victorious comes in to join her in Grand Harbour.

Onboard HMS Eagle at sea. LS aft along the deck as a range of 806 Squadron Sea Hawk FGA.6s fire starter cartridges. An armourer runs forward to check an underwing store on Sea Hawk 471 of 898 Squadron. 473 taxies past the camera, followed by 475 - both aircraft are launched from the starboard bow catapult. MS as the catapult shuttle is retracted, the automatic chocks come up and one of the deck crew lays down the wire bridle ready for the next aircraft, which is Sea Venom FAW.22 491 (XG 681) of 894 Squadron. The Venom is launched. Cut to LS off the port bow of HMS Victorious as a tug guides her through the breakwater into Grand Harbour. Victorious passes the camera position and a pan left shows HMS Eagle already at moorings in Bighi Bay. The tugs swing Victorious round until her starboard bow is presented to the camera on Gallow's Point. LS from a second camera near Fort St Angelo to starboard bow of Victorious as she is brought in - Eagle is moored at frame right, and in centre frame is a paddle-tug. As Victorious turns she comes abreast of the camera - she has Sea Venoms and Scimitars on deck.
