Synopsis
Opening shot of board bearing the legend HMIS "SITA", RIN HOLDING DEPOT and attended by two sentries. View across sun-baked lawn to an elegant colonnaded building. Vehicle pound contains 8 cwt 4x4 CMP Chevrolets and 3 ton 4x2 Fords. Trainee seamen under instruction in painting the hull of a whaler. Sequence showing the start of a hockey game, the play, and end of game refreshments. Petty officer plays chess with a friend in the open air. Trainees do an assault course. An instructor shows a class how to creep up and disable a man from behind, and they then mime the exercise. Other tactics follow - the instructor is convincing, his pupils less so, for while he has a fine physique and is bearded, the trainees are without exception lightly built and clean-shaven. Close combat instruction is followed by callisthenics.
