Synopsis
Mute unedited footage showing the return of HMS Nelson from the Far East.
MS and MCU shots of HMS Nelson entering port. Nelson alongside the Southern Railway Jetty, Portsmouth - ratings wave from the ship's side. 'B' turret traversed to starboard to assist in rigging the gangway. CU of wives and children waving from the jetty. Men come ashore - some with their kit. MCU study of a crowd of ratings - one gestures at the camera. CU facial study of Captain Caslon. MS of Nelson alongside jetty. Unintentional footage - the camera runs on while being carried. MCU of a family group - the father, a Royal Marine, plays with his child. Sailor gives a young girl a banana to eat (probably her first). MS of the crew disembarking. Admiral Walker and his CSOs come ashore and greet their wives. First Class Petty Officer shows his young child a pineapple. Various shots of crew members greeting wives and mothers. Marine (featured earlier) gives his wife a long kiss.
