Synopsis

I. Official Spanish visit to Gibraltar. Spanish officer (General Don Fernando Barron y Ortz, Governor of Algeciras ?) is received by Lieutenant-General Mason-MacFarlane, and they are entertained by a regimental pipe band.

II. Convoy action. Dido Class cruisers defend a convoy against air attack.

III. 'Corvettes - U-Boats' Latest Menace'. HMS Gardenia (K.99) at sea with convoy. Seamen armed with rifles shoot at a floating mine.

IV. 'Plymouth, after Royal Visit, has Fire Blitz'. George VI in naval uniform inspects Indian troops. Queen Elizabeth talks with dock-yard workers.

V. 'Madagascar'. Harbour scene in Capetown (or Freetown) - track past HMS Lookout (G.32) and HMS Malaya - MS of starboard forebody of HMS Hermoine - MS of HMS Illustrious with Swordfish on deck. Natives trade fruit from canoes. Invasion convoy at sea - Illustrious is astern of cameraship HMS Ramillies. Otranto is among the large troopships. Illustrious signals. Crossing the line ceremony - ship's dog swims in canvas pool - Neptune awards Admiral Syfret the 'Shield of the Sea Dog'. LS pan over convoy and HA onto focsle of Ramillies - A and B turrets are trained over the bows. Entry into Courier Bay. LCAs go ashore under cover of smoke - a Bren gun carrier creeps about on shore. HA from island as Fulmar II takes off from HMS Indomitable - distant aircraft formations pass overhead. Bombardment of Windsor Castle hill by L Class destroyer (either Laforey or Lightning). Track stern to bow past HMS Ramillies as she lies with HMS Anthony alongside for transfer of Marine party into the destroyer. Night firing sequence - camera shooting aft down starboard side of destroyer (?) a X and Y fire. Daylight sequence shot from L Class destroyer - LS of Ramillies and Devonshire bombarding. Entry into Diego Suarez Bay. Syfret and Sturgess confer onboard Ramillies. Steam pinnace takes troops ashore. Marine holds captured Mle 24/29. Surrender of Antsirane. Aerial view of the Antsirane - including German ship Warenfels being refitted in the dry dock. Victory parade and fraternisation. Abandoned French emplacement and wrecked Potez 63-II in riddled hangar. Syfret addresses crew on quarterdeck of Ramillies.
