Synopsis

I. A walk around Diyatalawa camp extension in Ceylon. Scenes include Craighton Village, waterfalls at Nuwara Eliya, Adams Peak and tea plantations. This material is duplicated with some additional scenes under ADM 1232.

II. Operation Tiderace, the reoccupation of Singapore from the sea. LS over the stern of cameraship (destroyer ?) to motor launches in line astern. MS starboard profile as motor minesweeper passes the cameraship - second motor minesweeper, motor launches, and a prominent island lighthouse in the background. LS of LSI lying offshore. MS off the port bow and MCU of bridge and upper works of Fairmile B ML 187. LS pan over line of Fairmiles escorting LCMs inshore. LCMs 4011 and 4038 pass left to right with ML escort. LS of MLs and LCMs with River Class frigate (?) in the background. LS of LCI(L) with ML escort directly astern of cameraship. Cut to MS from quayside as ship's boat crowded with naval ratings lays alongside - a Fairmile has followed the boat in, and a LCI(L) is alongside at another part of the basin. Cut to street lined with townspeople, shot from a moving vehicle. MS of soldiers of 5th Indian Division at a street intersection, consulting a map - Japanese troops and RN officer are present. Locals smile and wave to cameraman in Tanjong Pagar Road. Locals carrying improvised lathis clear crowd to let traffic through. CUs of waving townspeople, taken from a moving vehicle.
