Synopsis

(Tape 1) Divisions ceremony of ships' crews on dockside with inspection at HMS Malabar RN station in Bermuda; salute and prayers. The four ships alongside; also various cut-in shots.

(Tape 2) Ship's crest of HMS Brazen is painted on dockyard wall at HMS Malabar. Main gate of HMS Malabar: HMS Sirius is visible berthed at quayside in the background. Young officers under training are seen walking out. HMS Sirius with Ariadne alongside. General views of visiting ships. Small yacht sails between the ships. Sport (rugby and soccer matches) on nearby playing field.

(Tape 3) Interview with Captain Toby Elliot, Captain of 2nd Frigate Squadron, in charge of Initial Sea Training for young officers, talking about the training and the ships' ports of call, and explaining how the Bermuda stopover is primarily for rest and relaxation. General view of the four RN ships alongside. Cut-in shots featuring interviewer Keith Harman of CINCFLEET PR, delivering questions to be cut into finished interviews. Young uniformed officers go shopping in Hamilton, Bermuda - includes staged shots of Wrens looking at a map.

(Tape 4) Presentation of sports trophy to winning sports teams by the Governor of Bermuda, Sir Desmond Langley, at an indoor ceremony. Interview by Keith Harman with Commander Simm, CO of HMS Ariadne abouth the ship's training role in 2nd Frigate Squadron. Questions to camera by Keith Harman (for cut-ins). Views of ships from quayside as they prepare to leave harbour. Women wave from harbourside. Further preparations are made and HMS Broadsword (F88) is seen moving away, towed by tugs. Gangways of the other ships are removed.

(Tape 5) Extended scenes of the ships making final preparations for departure, and setting off from Bermuda: most shots taken from camera position on the quayside.

The Royal Navy ships HMS Broadsword, HMS Brazen, HMS Sirius and HMS Ariadne in Bermuda as part of the Initial Ship Training Squadron for new officers.
