Synopsis

(Tape 1) Fitness training on board HMS Nottingham for the runners taking part: running and mat exercises, aerobics, exercises on flight deck. Set-up shots, including preparation of fancy dress, including the construction of a "chariot" made from a windsurfing board - the sail has the ITV Telethon logo. More shots of exercise, including aerial shots of ship with runners on deck and the Rock of Gibraltar in the background (dusk).

(Tape 2) Shots of the Gibraltar race itself. Teams, mostly in various forms of fancy dress (including being dressed as helicopters and even as HMS Nottingham), descend the gangway prior to the race. Introduction to camera from presenter "Sally" (various takes). Travelling shots along the road at various points in the race showing runners. Scenes taken from high on the rock, showing the harbour below. Captain of HMS Nottingham plays a "patient" on a bed being pulled by several ratings dressed as doctors and nurses - Sally interviews him. At the top of the rock, sailors who have completed the race drink water. "Officer's table" is set up for the captain. Interviews with runners, including one (male) participant dressed up as Anneka Rice from the television programme "Challenge Anneka". Presentation of medals, with extra awards going to the fastest runners. Speech by captain. Three cheers from crew, who pose for a group photograph with the ITV Telethon banner.

(Tape 3) General views of Gibraltar, including shots from cable car showing town and dockyard. HMS Nottingham and other vessels seen from top of rock. Barbary apes with Telethon banner. General views of the Rock of Gibraltar itself, including shots across harbour at the mist-shrouded Rock and scenes at the airport.
