Synopsis
AYY 181/1. 1 Jan. 1942. Royal Artillery outside Agedabia, Libya, preparing guns and gun positions. Furthest point south reached by the British army.
AYY 181/2. 3 Jan. 1942. Scots Guards in trench on look-out north of Agedabia. Bengal sappers repairing blown-up road near Barce and re-making it with track leveller.
AYY 181/3. 25 Dec. 1941. Armoured cars of King's Dragoon Guards patrol streets of Benghazi and aerodrome. General Gott in Benghazi.
AYY 181/4. 20 Dec. 1941. Indian troops repairing road west of Derna mined by the Italians. Shelling of Giovanni Berta, German reconnaissance plane, taking of Italian prisoners. Results from bombing of an Italian column west of Cyrene: smashed lorries and corpses. Armoured cars advancing to Barce and entering Benghazi. German aircraft drop mines in the harbour at Benghazi, scenes in the town and damaged ships in the harbour.
AYY 181/5. 29 Nov. 1941. British West African Field Forces in Sierra Leone. 6th Light Battery assembling and firing and sighting a 3.7 inch anti-aircraft gun (porters carry the parts on their heads). 1st Battery Light Anti-aircraft Regiment (Freetown) firing Bofors. 16th Coast Battery Royal Artillery (Freetown).
