Synopsis
First official public function attended by Governor Lord Gort and Malta's first wartime investiture, held at Castille Square, Valletta. Fifty awards made to men (and one woman) of all three services and to members of the Malta Police Constabulary and ARP services. Awards to the army announced by the GOC Major-General Beak, VC. Awards to the RAF announced by the AOC Air Vice-Marshal Lloyd. Awards to the navy announced by the VAM Vice Admiral Sir Ralph Leatham. Civilian awards announced by the Lieutenant Governor Sir Edward Jackson. A march past closes the ceremony.
Pig and vegetable farm run by the Queen's Own Royal West Kent Regiment.
