Synopsis

Ceremony of the presentation of the Sword of Honour to Lord Gort by the people of Malta and Gozo.

Lord Gort is driven from the Palace in Valletta through the streets of Floriana, Qormi and Zebbug, and at Rohan Arch in Zebbug his car is towed by the people to St Phillips Square for the ceremony. He walks to the dais. Also present are the Lieutenant Governor Mr Campbell and his wife and the heads of the services. The Archbishop is seated. The ceremony is opened by Professor Farrugia who makes a speech on behalf of the people. Lord Gort takes the sword in his hand and replies to the speech. He buckles the sword on. The Very Reverend Archpriest of Zebbug unveils a tablet commemorating the occasion. Shots of the children's choir and the crowd. The Reverend Callus makes a speech in Maltese. Lord Gort leaves the dais and enters the local Band Club building. Pan shot from Union Jack to broadcast loudspeaker.
