8 Mar. 1942. First stage of General Auchinleck's journey from Cairo to Baghdad. He boards a plane at Heliopolis Aerodrome. The plane stops at Lydda (near Jaffa) to refuel. On arrival at Baghdad he is met by Lieutenant General Quinan, commanding the 10th Army. The Commander-in-Chief inspects Indian troops.

9 Mar. 1942. The Commander-in-Chief and Lieutenant General Quinan wait to board a plane at Baghdad Airport. Also on the plane is Sir Archibald Clark Kerr, the new Ambassador to Moscow. On arrival at Habbaniya the Commander-in-Chief inspects the Guard of Honour from the Iraq Levies. The party drives to Brigade HQ where Auchinleck inspects officers. He is greeted by the little dog of the Frontier Force Rifles HQ which conducts him to the officers. Inspection of Royal Artillery Personnel near Habbaniya.

10 Mar. 1942. Inspection of Armoured Group. Inspection of Indian Infantry Brigade (Gurkhas) near Quayara. The tour continues by air to Mosul.

12 Mar. 1942. At Baghdad Airport, Auchinleck and General Quinan study maps and emplane for Basra. Auchinleck writing in the plane. Wireless operator. Auchinleck looks around Anti-aircraft workshops. 75mm Battery training.

13 Mar. 1942. Visit to part of Basra (described on the dope sheet as "Margill") and inspection of Gurkhas. Auchinleck walks around the docks at Basra accompanied by a senior officer. The party emplanes for a day trip. The Lockheed Lodestar aircraft leaves the ground.
