Synopsis
20-27 May 1942. HRH visiting ruins at Baalbek. He is escorted by the Tcherkess Guard. HRH in Damascus. Shots taken from the car driving the Duke to La Residence, home of General Catroux. The Duke at the Presidency. Inspection of the Free French at Mezze Aerodrome. HRH is received in Cyprus. He goes into the Churchill Rest House for Army Sisters in Jerusalem. In Amman the Duke meets the Emir Abdullah of Transjordan and inspects the Transjordan Frontier Force and Arab Legion. 2nd Brigade Carpathian Division Poles, commanded by Lieutenant General Dr Yozef Lajac. HRH takes the march past. Escort plane. HRH leaves the Lockheed Lodestar aircraft.
31 May 1942. HRH at General Maxwell's reception at Maadi, Egypt. He walks through the guard of honour and shakes hands with the General. They walk into the garden. The Duke shakes hands with the Sergeants of the Guard after tea. He stands with an American Naval Liaison Officer.
