Synopsis
Attack against the enemy at El Ruweisat, south of the El Alamein Box.
Attack by 161 Brigade, 5th Indian Division and the 22nd and 23rd Armoured Brigades on El Ruweisat Ridge on the night of 21 July and morning of 22 July. Units of the 23rd Armoured Brigade move to take up positions. Knocked out German Mark III tanks. General Briggs of the 5th Indian Division and Brigadier Hughes of 161 Brigade confer at Brigade HQ before the attack. Indian infantry of 161 Brigade moving forwards. De-bussing from lorries. Bren carriers. Tanks of 23rd Brigade advancing. 6 pounder anti-tank guns on portees moving through armour. A damaged Spitfire dropping and crashing. Captured Germans from the 21st Panzer Division, also captured Italians. The prisoners are given water and marched to the POW cage.
