HRH DUKE OF GLOUCESTER IN INDIA

Synopsis
I. 14 June. The Duke arrives in Bihar Province and is received by the Governor, His Excellency Sir Thomas Stewart.
II. 16 June. He visits British and Indian hospitals and also troops from Burma during a monsoon.
III. The Duke visits Tata Works where he is received by the Governor of Bihar who introduces him to the Tata Directorate, including Mr Ghandy. The Duke examines sheets of armour plates. He visits the Indian Cable Company and another factory where armoured vehicles are being built. A garland is placed around his neck.
IV. The Duke visits an aerodrome near Calcutta where he meets Wing Commander Nicholson, the first man of Fighter Command to receive the VC in the war. Accompanied by Sir John Herbert, Governor of Bengal, the Duke inspects the Air Raid Precautions, troops and armaments factories. He also inspects HMIS Pansy.
