"YANKS IN TANKS"

Synopsis

Soldiers on a tank as it travels on a transporter.

(Reel 9) American tank crews attached to the 3rd County of London Yeomanry line up as the cook sounds the gong for lunch. The men sitting and eating and chatting.

(Reel 5) An American corporal shows a British soldier how to light a cigarette with a magnifying glass. British and American soldiers fraternising. A local salesman shows his goods.

(Reels 6 and 7) Major Cameron holds a map conference for US tank commanders. This is followed by an informal lecture for the US tank crews in which he uses empty beer cans to explain British tactics.

(Reel 13) A tank on the move with the Commander on the turret. Troops eating bread and jam on a tank.

(Reel 8) Tank crews brewing up and fraternising.

(Reel 11) A 75mm gun being cleaned. A 37mm gun and the Browning Anti-Aircraft gun being cleaned. A shot taken through the barrel of the 75mm gun with the American Staff Sergeant looking through the other end. The bogies being greased and the tank being loaded with shells.

Notes

AYY 249/1 and AYY 249/2 correspond with dope sheet AYY 249/1. The various scenes in the films do not appear in the same order as on the dope sheet and not all the scenes described in the dope sheet appear in the two films.
