Synopsis

20 November. One of the supply ships of the first convoy to enter Tobruk since its capture by the Eighth Army moves across the harbour with a navy patrol boat passing in the foreground. Another boat pulls alongside a German wreck while a British sailor stands ready to make her fast. The red ensign flies at the stern of the boats as the crew look out. Royal Engineers prepare to unload the supplies. The building of Tobruk can be seen in the background. Troops from Mauritius load the supplies into the lighter, ready to go ashore. Unloading of supplies.

22 November. The 4th Light Armoured Brigade enter Benghazi, there are burning buildings in the background. Armoured cars stop and the soldiers talk to local people, some of whom are bartering eggs. Benghazi harbour with burning and derelict ships. The burning town.

20 November. South African armoured cars patrol Cathedral Mole and the jetty in the shadow of two burning Axis supply ships.

20 November. Armoured cars of the 4th Light Armoured Brigade enter Benghazi as fires caused by RAF bombing are still burning. The cars drive up the main street and halt in the square. Commander Colonel Joy surveys the town from the top of his armoured car.

22 November. Scenes of the occupation. A wreck burning in the harbour. The wrecked interior and exterior of the Odeon cinema in Benghazi. The Royal Army Medical Corps working in the hospital, treating locals and children as well as soldiers. A worried father paces up and down as his child is operated on. A father holds a child with burns. Injured children are given blood transfusions. An Arab boy with his leg in plaster. His father helps to carry his stretcher.
