Synopsis

The story of the Australian contingent for the Commonwealth Victory Parade in London.

The voyage on the cruiser HMAS Shropshire (drill and PT, deck games, crossing the line ceremony, making presents for English children, painting/cleaning the ship). Arrival in Portsmouth; arrival at camp in Kensington Gardens in rain (earlier shots showed British troops putting up tents); briefing. Sightseeing in London (including Covent Garden, 'Boomerang Club' in Australia House, and Derby Day at Epsom); drill. The day of the Parade: Reveille, shaving, last polish to equipment - spectators - arrival of King and Queen - the Parade itself (concentrates on Australian contingent, but also shots of spectators, King and Queen, Indian and African troops, Fire Service, and a glimpse of Montgomery) under Admiralty Arch and down the Mall.

Remarks: an amusing contrast to the German film PARADE!
