THE LETTER
This film is held by the Imperial War Museum (ID: CCE 256).
Synopsis
An Indian couple, workers on a rubber estate in Malaya, receive a letter which they cannot read. A semi-literate friend, to who they go for help, tells them it contains news of a family bereavement. Luckily the village schoolmaster is able to correct the misunderstanding; and the couple, realising the advantages of literacy, decide that their children must go to school.
