FALKLANDS - THE LAND BATTLE PART 3: THE FINAL BATTLE
This film is held by the Imperial War Museum (ID: DRA 1579).
Synopsis
Part 3 does not aim to give equal coverage to all battalion/commando actions. It adopts a theme, the Application of Force, and illustrates selected aspects: (a) The Indirect Approach - 42 Commando's attack on Mt. Harriet, coming in, as it did, through the enemy's back door. (b) The Silent Night Attack - 3 Para on Mt. Longdon. The need for surprise, particularly when faced by a long and open approach. (c) The Noisy Night Attack - 2 Para on Wireless Ridge. The co-ordination of a devastating all-arms fire package which undermined the will to resist. (d) Close Quarter Fighting - 2 Scots Guards on Mt. Tumbledown. The fighting qualities and junior leadership of the British Soldier.
