SCHOOL IS EVERYWHERE

This film is held by the Imperial War Museum (ID: DRA 3101).

Synopsis

Service Recruiting film intended to recruit teachers to work in British service schools overseas, particularly in Malta, Cyprus and Hong Kong. The film describes the problems faced by families that spend a considerable amount of time moving due to the requirements of the services, and briefly describes the educational services provided overseas by the Service Children's Education Authority. These schools are intended to be as much as possible like those in the UK, and the system is designed in such a way as to minimise the disruption to a child's education caused by moving school on a regular basis. The advantages and challenges for teachers of working in exotic overseas locations are emphasised, as are the school, recreation and accommodation facilities available. The use of remedial teachers for those children who fall behind and career services for older children are also explained.
