25-POUNDER SHOOT AT PAUKTABIN

This film is held by the Imperial War Museum (ID: FUB 87).

Synopsis

Near Pauktabin in central Burma, 25-pounder field guns fire a barrage.

Various angles of a 25-pounder gun being fired. The battery position is in open grassland. Cleaning the barrel after firing.

Notes

One interesting shot has the camera looking up the barrel as the charge is inserted and the breech closed; daylight can be seen through the barrel, suggesting there is no shell in the breech to be fired. This sequence is probably for the cameras benefit.

The unit seen is not identified, but is either 130th or 178th Field Regiment, Royal Artillery.
