Synopsis
I. "Your RAF reporter..." "Your RAF reporter" introduces a. Halton Camp, RAF technical training centre (workshops, cadets' march-past, sports day). b. "Calcutta's Hyde Park" is converted into an emergency air strip. Fighters are serviced, and take-off over the city. c. Flashback to airfield construction scenes from North West Europe in winter 1944/5 is followed by film of the Rest Centre for 'other ranks' of the Airfield Construction Service allotted by HQ Second Army in Germany.
II. "S.E.A.C." On an (unnamed) island in the Far East, an airfield is constructed: forest is cleared, and PSP runway laid. Film of leisure activities (including church parade) is followed by shots of first Spitfires (6, in formation) to take off from the strip.
III. The cartoonist Flight Lieutenant David Langdon at work. He illustrates the story of his career in the RAF with caricatures of "types" he has met. As well as designing titles for recent GENs, Langdon has worked on the RAF Journal. His character 'Joe' becomes a civilian...
