Synopsis
I. "V.J. DAY CELEBRATED QUIETLY IN INDIA". Lord Wavell gives an address to the people of India asking them to dedicate themselves to the great task of reconstruction. Thanksgiving services are held across the country. II. "FIRST JAPANESE BRING WHITE FLAGS OF TRUCE THROUGH THE BRITISH LINES IN BURMA". Japanese officers arrived at the Battalion Headquarters on the Sittang river to discuss the preliminaries of surrender. III. "CEASE FIRE ORDER TO TROOPS IN BURMA BRINGS JUBILATION AND THANKSGIVING". News of victory is delivered to a Gurkha battalion fighting on the west bank of the River Sittang. IV. "LT. GENERAL TAKAZO NUMATA SIGNS JAPANESE PRELIMINARY SURRENDER TERMS IN RANGOON". Surrender Conference takes place at Government House, Rangoon. Preliminary terms are accepted by Japanese Lieutenant General Tazuso Numata.
