Synopsis

I. "ENGINEERS FIGHT BENGAL'S FAMINE AREAS WITH NEW IRRIGATION" Scenes of a twin Diesel engine mechanical pump, pumping eight hundred gallons of water per minute through irrigation channels to paddy fields, lying high above the river level. Although as "bulwarks against famine, these government pumps are producing excellent results", the commentary also notes "how much there is still to do to make our land really rich".

II. "JAPANESE TANKS COMPARE POORLY" Comparison made between Japanese and Allied tanks. General Stuart examines a captured Japanese tank; as the commentary notes, "Japan's weapons of war are poor imitations of western models mostly out of date". Large scale pictures of Allied tanks are used by way of comparison. Scene of a drive-past by British and American tanks follows.

III. "MONSOON BREAKS ON THE BURMA FRONT" Scenes of monsoon rains at an army camp as commentary notes, in style of a soldier writing home, "We can even go bathing in our tents". Scenes of food being consumed by soldiers.

IV. "THE BATTLE OF KOHIMA" British troops move through hill forests in preparation for successful attack on Japanese-held town of Kohima. The hill-dwelling Nagas act as Allied scouts, using their "uncanny" skill and stealth. Scenes of the Nagas carrying "primitive spears", "a deadly weapon of modern jungle fighting". The Allied attack on town leaves the town ruined and three thousand Japanese lay dead.
