ROVING REPORT NO 40
This film is held by the Imperial War Museum (ID: ITN 125).
Synopsis
Report in three sections.
1. Background to the fighting in Kashmir. Indian forces have now crossed the UN ceasefire line and are seen on patrol, counting enemy dead and manning check-points in Srinagar. Gouma Nkala of the Kashmiri Opposition Action Committee blames 18 years of Indian misrule for the present crisis while India's Chief Minister Sadik says there is no question of negotiating with the rebels and promises to give the Pakistanis a crushing defeat. 2. Outline of the civil war in the Yemen which has now ended. Guerrilla tactics of ill-equipped mountain tribesmen supporting Royalist Iman Bada forced Republicans backed by Egyptian ground and air power to accept a ceasefire. Republic's claim to Aden led Britain to intervene and film shows a Red Cross clinic. 3. Views of the moon port and rocket installations in Florida. Gigantic Vehicle Assembly Building will house the Saturn 5 rockets which are expected to get man to the Moon by 1970.
