ROVING REPORT NO 41

This film is held by the Imperial War Museum (ID: ITN 126).

Synopsis

Report in three sections.

1. Terrorist campaign to force Britain to grant Aden independence before 1968 has spread from the Radfan Mountains where the Army and RAF have been attacking rebel positions to Qatar City itself where "professional killers" trained in Egypt and the Yemen have been operating since April. Latest victims are Police Chief Barry and Sir Arthur Charles; buildings including the Sailors Club and British flats have been attacked with bazookas and grenades. Vicious attacks continue despite the state of emergency and incessant patrols and numerous arrests by British security forces. High Commissioner Sir Richard Turnbull speaks of a "series of planned murders" and fears "there will be more tragedies before this thing is played out". 2. Report on industrialised building (prefabricated units which are quickly erected to form a variety of housing styles) suggests that this method of construction may replace building with bricks and "change the face of the world in a few years". 3. First film of the new collections of the top french fashion houses - Molyneux, Balmain, Patou, Cardin, Lanvin, Nina Ricci and Dior. Models display the clothes.
