Synopsis
Scenes of Bethlehem, Solomon's Pool and Jerusalem, including General Allenby's visit to Bethlehem on Christmas Day, Palestine Front, 1917.
I. A long sequence of 2/4th Battalion, the Dorset Regiment, with its band leading, marching into Bethlehem (poor quality film). II. Allenby's visit to Bethlehem, 25 December 1917. He can be seen among a large crowd, getting into his car and leaving. (Note the official still photographer, Sergeant Westmoreland, at work.) III. The 'Solomon's Pool' reservoir. A flashframe reads "the reservoirs built by Solomon 3,000 years ago were cleaned and the waters sent into Jerusalem by the aqueduct built by Herod and Pontius Pilate". IV. Turkish prisoners on the march guarded by Indian lancers. V. Interior shots of the Church of the First Prison of Christ at Jerusalem.
