Synopsis

Lord Louis Mountbatten, Supreme Allied Commander South East Asia, arrives in Singapore after transferring his headquarters from Kandy in Ceylon (Sri Lanka).

An RAF Douglas Dakota VIP transport aircraft serial FL510 ('Sister Ann') taxiing at Kallang airport. Mountbatten steps down from the aircraft. Mountbatten with Air Chief Marshal Sir Keith Park, Air Commander-in-Chief South East Asia. Mountbatten salutes an RAF Regiment guard of honour. Guard of honour sloping arms Mountbatten. Mountbatten, Park, and Lieutenant-General Browning, Mountbatten's chief of staff. Mountbatten departs. Brief shot from a moving jeep (somewhat unsteady) showing Mountbatten's car in front. Mountbatten walks towards camera and salutes a guard of honour of 1st Australian Parachute Battalion at Government House. Bugler playing. Mountbatten inspects the guard and chats to individuals with close-ups. Mountbatten salutes a march past of the guard of honour. Mountbatten goes into Government House.

Notes

Mountbatten was arriving in Singapore from Saigon (see related items) and would shortly establish his HQ in the luxurious Cathay Building.
