Synopsis

Lord Louis Mountbatten, Supreme Allied Commander South East Asia, arrives in Rangoon, Burma, for a tour of inspection.

Mountbatten and Air Marshal Sir Hugh Saunders standing by an RAF Avro York transport aircraft; Mountbatten is greeted by Lieutenant-General Sir Montagu Stopford, General Officer Commanding Burma Command. Mountbatten speaks with various officers. Mountbatten inspects an RAF Regiment guard of honour mounted by 2970 Squadron under the command of Flight Lieutenant P H Bright. Mountbatten inspects the guard. Very grey footage of Mountbatten at No.1 Road Transport Column, Royal Indian Army Service Corps, where he is met by Lieutenant-Colonel S S Smith. He meets Captain J M F Torner, from Bexhill-on-Sea in Sussex. Mountbatten inspects Indian other ranks. Low-angle close-up of Mountbatten addressing the Indian troops, apparently in Urdu.
