Synopsis

Lord Louis Mountbatten, Supreme Allied Commander South East Asia, arrives in Rangoon, Burma, for a tour of inspection.

Wide shot; at Mingaladon airfield Mountbatten steps down from an RAF Avro York transport aircraft and is greeted. A guard of honour mounted by 2970 Squadron Royal Air Force Regiment presents arms. Mountbatten salutes the commander of the guard and inspects it. At 12th Army headquarters a band of the 82nd West African Division is playing. Close-up of Mountbatten inspecting a guard of honour of 4th West African Brigade; the men wear the 'crossed spears' patch of 82nd West African Division. The West African band, in their distinctive uniforms, marches past followed by the guard of honour. Mountbatten arrives at No.1 Road Transport Column, Royal Indian Army Service Corps. A guard of honour presents arms and Mountbatten salutes. Mountbatten meets an Indian soldier (the unit's subedar?) who wears an elaborate head dress. He inspects Indian troops. Addressing troops. Mountbatten and party pass camera.
