Synopsis

In Pegu, Burma, a club for Viceroy's Commissioned Officers is opened by the commander of 454 Sub-Area, Colonel A B R Leech.

Leech passes a guard of honour. Leech addresses troops in Urdu. He cuts a ribbon to open the club. Sign reads 'VCOs Club Pegu'. Leech with Indian VCOs walk down towards a small boat on a lake. Leech on a small boat with Indian troops which is punted and paddled away from the bank. Boat moves off on the lake.

Notes

Viceroy's Commissioned Officers were Indian ranks approximately equal to those of British warrant officers. They were subordinate to commissioned British and Indian officers, but were an important part of the low-level chain of command, and were addressed with the respectful 'Sahib' by their officers.
