Synopsis

Sir Miles Dempsey, commander of Allied Land Forces South East Asia (ALFSEA), departs by air from Kallang airport, Singapore, and a number of senior officers see him off.

Dempsey at the salute with an RAF Regiment guard of honour behind. He inspects the guard of honour; a cine cameraman, presumably Sergeant Wilcox, can be seen with his Vinten Normandy camera. Guard of honour. Aircrew on parade before the flight. Dempsey meets the aircrew. Aircrew board the aircraft. Dempsey speaking with Lord Mountbatten, Supreme Allied Commander South East Asia. Dempsey boards the aircraft. Aircraft (an Avro Lancastrian transport) taxiing.

Notes

Dempsey was leaving in order to take up a new appointment as Commander-in-Chief Middle East. He had previously commanded Second Army in north west Europe.
