Synopsis

At the battalion lines of 1st Battalion 11th Sikh Regiment in Kuala Lumpur, Malaya, a number of captured Japanese swords are presented.

Lieutenant-General Reginald Savory at the salute by a flagpole. Closer shot. Four waiting presentees; they are Honorary Lieutenant Budh Singh, Lieutenant-General Savory, the Rajah of Faridkot, and Havildar Nand Singh VC. The Rajah receives his sword. Notes

Then-Naik Nand Singh won his Victoria Cross for capturing three lines of Japanese trenches on the Maungdaw-Buthidaung Road, despite wounds and heavy enemy fire, during the Arakan campaign in March 1944. Later Singh would win a posthumous Maha Vir Chakra in 1947 serving in the independent Indian Army in 1947 during the fighting in Jammu and Kashmir.

According to the dopesheet Budh Singh was recognised in honour of his 32 years' service. Lieutenant-General Savory had served with the 11th Sikhs' predecessor, the 14th Ferozepore Sikhs at Gallipoli.
