Synopsis

For the first time since the end of the war, a parade is mounted in Singapore to mark the King's birthday, and Sir Franklin Gimson, Governor of Singapore, takes the salute.

Gimson arrives by car at the padang. He gets into a car for a drive-past inspection of the troops on parade. Inspecting the troops. Out of the car. A furled Royal Standard is hoisted up the flagpole. The standard breaks at the masthead. Gimson. Three cheers for the King. Parade presenting arms. Gimson at the salute. British naval officer at the salute. Gimson leaving the padang. Lieutenant-General Browning, Chief of Staff to Lord Mountbatten, leaving with others. Other officers leaving. Marchpast led by Major-General Cox, commander Singapore District.
