Synopsis

In Rangoon, capital of Burma, the ailing Governor Sir Reginald Dorman-Smith departs for England, and Sir Henry Knight arrives to take over.

Knight arrives at Government House. Dorman-Smith arrives at the Rangoon Port Commissioners' jetty at Rangoon docks, and is saluted by Burmese (?) sailors (of the Burma Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve?). Down the jetty. On the jetty he boards a motor launch. Motor launch moving off. Motor launch in midstream.

Notes

Dorman-Smith had been Governor since 1941, and was forced to evacuate following the Japanese invasion. He returned to Burma in October 1945, but could not deal effectively with the changed political landscape. He returned to Britain on health grounds, and in the expectation of returning, but was replaced permanently by Sir Hubert Rance in August 1946.
