Synopsis

At Singapore, the Cunard White Star liner RMS Mauretania arrives carrying members of the Malayan and South East Asia Victory Contingents, and a parade is mounted through the streets.

A striking shot shows a tiny-looking rowing boat in front of Mauretania's port bow, which rises like a wall out of the water, while in the background a Harbour Defence Motor Launch passes. 'Mauretania' on the bow. Looking up at the rail. Spectators. The gangway is positioned. British troops disembark. Looking up at the boat deck. Looking down from the rail of people disembarking. Malayan troops disembarking and walking away along the quay.

Notes

This contingent had marched in London as part of a massive Victory Parade held on 8 June 1946.
