Synopsis

ACTUALITY. The construction of a railway bridge across a river in South Africa.

A gang of African labourers, with an overseer, assembling railway lines; bridge in background (31). A section of girder bridge is hauled into position on railway lines by the Africans (52). Sections of railway line in the foreground, a bridge and locomotive in the background. A section of bridge on the line (126). Africans on rafts float sections of the girder bridge into position, under white supervision (355). Africans performing a tribal dance (439ft).
