Synopsis
On a beach up the Zani Chaung in the Arakan coastal region of Burma, landing craft unload stores and a captured Japanese tank is put aboard a landing craft.
Sappers and Miners preparing beach for landing craft. Men working to free a bogged bulldozer. A Landing Craft Mechanised comes up the chaung (river or watercourse), approaches the beach and lowers its ramp. Indian troops carrying bulky baggage and stores from the landing craft. More landing craft arriving and unloading. Indian soldier (beachmaster?) with flag. Brief shot shows a DUKW amphibious truck driving off a landing craft. Stack of stores and small arms. More shots of general activity at the beach with DUKWs driving ashore. Bearded naval beachmaster giving directions. Piled 5.5-inch shells aboard a DUKW. Carrying and dumping 5.5-inch shells. A captured Japanese tank is driven onto a landing craft. Footage from a landing craft leaving the beach with views of thick undergrowth.
Notes
The footage of the Japanese tank provides a rare glimpse of such a vehicle in running condition.
