Synopsis

At Kyaukse, south of Mandalay on the road to Meiktila, Indian troops of 80th Indian Infantry Brigade (20th Indian Division) occupy the town.

Indian troops advancing towards a railway station with the Shwethalyaung hill in the background. Indian troops advance towards railway rolling stock. Troops amongst rolling stock. A station building appears to have collapsed. A sign reads Kyaukse. Closer shot; a company commander speaks on a wireless to his battalion HQ. Troops amongst damaged buildings. Troops advance into town. Probably staged shot shows a soldier enter shot, peer around a broken brick wall and move forward. Soldiers (and company commander?) with signaller pass camera. Wrecked building marked BOC Service Station. Soldier walks over rubble.

Notes

Kyaukse was occupied on 30 March, the day this film was shot, by troops of 9th Battalion 12th Frontier Force Regiment. This operation formed part of the link-up between XXXIII Corps around Mandalay, and IV Corps at Meiktila.
