Synopsis

ACTUALITY. Lord Kitchener's reception at the Guildhall on the occasion of his presentation of the Freedom of the City of London.

Guests arriving at the canopied entrance to the Guildhall, including a man in a top hat and frock coat who alights from a hansom cab; pigeons fly about in the foreground and a guard of honour of guardsmen takes up its position (22). Lord Kitchener, in an open carriage, accompanied by three aides-de-camp, Major Lord Edward Cecil, Captain Sir Henry Rawlinson and Captain J.K. Watson, drives up, alights and enters the building (48). Footmen and city police at the entrance (64). The guard of honour takes up position again, the empty carriage drives up and Lord Kitchener emerges from the Guildhall (77ft).
