Somewhere in Burma, probably during the advance to the Irrawaddy in January 1945, infantry of 20th Indian Division advance alongside a unit of armoured cars, while aircraft and artillery provide support.

Armoured car and jeep passing with pagoda in background. Armoured car passing. Turretless Humber (?) (mortar vehicle?). 25-pounders in action at the position seen earlier. Indian infantry milling about. Indian troops running forward, away from camera; they run in a mass. Wide shot with smoke or dust rising in the distance; aircraft are seen attacking. Notes
No dopesheet survives for this film and consequently details are unclear. 20th Indian Division are identified by their 'sword' insignia, and the armoured cars are likely to be from 11th (Prince Albert Victor's Own) Cavalry. Assuming the 25-pounders are from 20th Indian Division, they are either 9th or 114th Field Regiments, Royal Artillery.
Series note: The MWY series of films is believed to be part of a ‘pool’ of film received by the Government of India from various sources, including South East Asia Command, the Indian Inter-Service Public Relations Directorate, the Ministry of Information, and from Allied governments. This footage would have been considered for editing and release through the Indian Newsreel Parade; see INR series.
