Synopsis
Shot on 30 December 1944: Wide shot looking across a paddy field, somewhere along the Maungdaw-Indin Road on the western side of the Mayu Range, with Indian infantry of 2nd Battalion 4th Bombay Grenadiers lying prone in long grass. Infantryman crouching behind a bund with his rifle. Profile infantryman. Another shot of an infantryman. Looking over a soldier’s (the same soldier?) shoulder. Bren gun team; the cameraman’s position is in front of cover. Bren position with two soldiers walking in the background.
Shot on 31 December 1944: Lorries driving on a beach, probably at Foul Point. A number of the vehicles have been camouflaged with foliage. Wide shots; vehicles on the beach and crossing waterways. On board a vessel, looking back on the beach with vehicles. Vehicles driving on the beach. Lorries crossing some shallow water. Close shot of wheels entering water. Three officers in discussion around a map, one of them wearing 25th Indian Division insignia. More vehicles crossing the water.
On the Maungdaw-Indin road, on the western side of the Mayu peninsula, Indian troops of the 4th Bombay Grenadiers take up positions to protect friendly tanks, and lorries drive on the beach at Foul Point before the invasion of Akyab island.
